CANTON GATE Commissioned by This monument was a gift to the town of Canton by its arts council commemorating their 25th anniversary. Intended as a historic monument, it illustrates where the town has been and where it is going in relationship to the Farmington River which gave life to the towns along it's banks. Utilizing images of fish, a flock of birds, and cascades of steel reminiscent of water, all incorporated into the architectural structure of the gateway. The Hartford Courant called Canton Gate "an imposing and complex reminder of the rivers importance to the community." |
