During my creative investigation, the hand tool became a metaphor or vehicle for learning in general. Vocational education has always focused on practical trade skill development. All of these skills have in common the use of hand held tools. The tool forms become a metaphor for the student. Suddenly they become the reflection of the self and self worth; as an extension of the hand -- an extension of the mind"
