"Public Art
must have a clear relationship to its environment and
community of peoples. It should be accessible and evoke a
sense of reason.
"If the art
is to communicate, it must entice and motivate those who live
and work among it to ask questions and in doing so spark their
imagination.
"Public art
is for the people... its intent should be inspiring."

"Hello, my name is HERO. I represent the
spirit of Engine Company #16 at Morris Cove in New Haven, CT.
I salute and celebrate the Heroes - the rookies, the crews'
cooks, the veteran ladder jockeys, the chief - who throughout
the East Shore's history have helped preserve the stability of
Morris Cove."
